The Farm

Estancia Caiman and the cattle raising

Under the auspices of Estancia Caiman, this operation is run seeking to adapt its practices to the Pantanal’s environment searching for the best integration possible between the cattle and nature. Taking adavantage of the knowhow accumulated in the same region (the old Miranda Estancia ranch) and sharing its operational territory with activities such as ecotourism and scientific researches, Estancia Caiman handles more than 20 thousand cattle in its property.

The Caiman Lodge and Ecotourism

In these almost 20 years of existence, ecotourism has specially helped Caiman Ecological Refuge and the Pantanal as a whole, to find within this activity, yet another option to conserve the Pantanal and, at the same time, provide its development. Caiman Ecological Refuge is comprised by three independent lodges within the ranch. The lodges differ in their architectonic characteristics with the purpose to blend with the nature that surrounds them. All were built with identical charm, sophistication and comfort.

Sede Lodge

The old homestead of the Ranch’s founders, which maintains the original characteristics of the main quarters of a traditional large cattle breeding ranch in the Pantanal. It is the largest lodge with 11 guestrooms.

Baiazinha Lodge

Located 9 km from the SEDE, it was built on stilts and is structured like a bird with opened wings. Located at the banks of a clear-water lake, it provides a magical and cozy ambiance for its guests. It has 06 guestrooms.

Cordilheira Lodge

Located 13 km from the SEDE, it was built with bricks and mounted on stilts,. Located at the margins of a Cordilheira forest, perfectly integrated with the surrounding natural scene. It has 08 guestrooms.

Activities

Regular Strolls

To enjoy all Caiman’s scheduled activities it is recommended a minimum three to four-night stay: check-in in the first day before nocturnal activity, and check-out in the fifth day after breakfast, which provides greater knowledge about Pantanal, its nature and its culture.

Activities at Caiman start very early in the morning taking full advantage of the best portion of the day to observe the wildlife. After that, they guests return to the lodges, have lunch and rest. When the afternoon passes by and temperature cools off, it is time to go out for an afternoon excursion, another good time to see Pantanal and behold the wonderful local sunset.

Optional Strolls
These tours have an additional cost
